South Korea's BC Card has completed a groundbreaking pilot enabling foreign consumers to pay domestic merchants using stablecoins. The two-month test, conducted with blockchain firm Wavebridge and remittance provider Global Money Express, marks a strategic push into digital currency integration.

The payments giant filed a patent in September for its stablecoin settlement technology—a first in the Korean market. The system dynamically calculates coin deductions based on real-time exchange rates, ensuring precise transaction amounts.

BC Card President Choi Won-seok called stablecoins 'a transformative paradigm for payment systems' during the patent announcement. The company now moves toward creating a ubiquitous stablecoin payment infrastructure across its network.
